Wyrd Grl was created as an antidote to burnout and despair
In 2024, I was a successful botanist, having spent years working in conservation. But after the end of a relationship, a late autism diagnosis and the onset of what I would later recognise as severe burnout, I found myself unable to continue in the career I cared so deeply about.
The world I had built for myself over the previous ten years had become too rigid, too grey, and too far removed from the person I actually was. So I decided to build a new one- a life shaped around neurodivergence, wildness, softness and creativity.
That became Wyrd Grl.
What started as a way of making a little more space for creativity in my own life has grown into a world of its own: one made from rescued fabrics, folklore, strange little treasures and an unreasonable amount of sewing. I want Wyrd Grl to feel like stepping into a world where you’re allowed to play, experiment and take yourself a little less seriously- while everything is still made with care, skill and grown-up craftsmanship.
A little bit wild. A little bit ridiculous. Very lovingly made.
