Patchwork Kilt 002

KILT NO. 002 // the milkmaid

£100.00

A pleated little patchwork beast, stitched together from fabrics that were never meant to belong to each other.

These one-of-a-kind upcycled mini kilts are handmade from a strange and lovely mix of plaid fabrics, vintage tea towels, lace and ribbon. I piece the fabrics together by hand before pleating them into a wrap skirt inspired by traditional Scottish kilts and old school uniforms.

The result is something that feels a little folkloric, a little punk, and a little bit unruly. The structured pleats and tartan-inspired fabrics are balanced by mismatched patchwork, vintage trims and a deliberately raw hem, so each kilt has its own particular personality.

They're designed to be worn your way, too. The adjustable wrap fastening means you can alter the fit as your body changes, and choose whether you want to wear your kilt high or low-waisted.

Every one is completely unique, made from rescued vintage and second-hand fabrics that might otherwise have been forgotten. No matching sets, no mass production, no two exactly alike, just tiny wearable pieces of fabric history stitched together into something new.

Upcycled, handmade and slightly feral. For strange girls who like their kilts with a bit of lace around the edges.
